RC212V
An exciting new era of MotoGP began in 2007, with the introduction of the 800cc category and Honda’s latest Grand Prix machine, the RC212V. Just as the world waited in excited anticipation in the 1960s, so they did in 2006 as Honda eventually confirmed a new V4, 800cc MotoGP machine to challenge for the 2007 title and adhere to the new engine capacity limit after five years of 990cc competition.
Honda continues its policy of educating its young engineers, extending its passion for engineering excellence and striving for further success in the red-hot arena of MotoGP. With the RC212V arrived a challenging new era, one which has witnessed the evolution of a new prototype over the immediate future, all aimed at challenging the record-breaking statistics of its predecessor, the RC211V.
YAMAHA FIAT
During a presentation in Italy today, Yamahaannounced that it has reached a two-year agreement with Fiat to become title sponsor of the Yamaha Factory Racing Team in the MotoGP World Championship.
The Team’s Official Launch took place in Milan this afternoon and the Team will be known from now on as the “Fiat YamahaTeam”.
Yamaha’s two Factory riders, Italian Valentino Rossi and American Colin Edwards were present at the event today as well as YamahaMotor Company’s Masao Furusawa, General Manager for Engineering Operations, Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing and Davide Brivio, the Fiat YamahaTeam Director. The Yamaha line-up were joined on stage by Luca de Meo, CEO of Fiat
Automobiles S.p.A.
“We’re very excited about our new two-year partnership with Fiat,” said Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing. “Fiat, like Yamaha, is a truly global brand and we feel that there is a great match between our two companies. It’s good for our sport to welcome a new sponsor of Fiat’s calibre and we feel sure that they will enjoy their involvement with our team. We look forward to working with them over the coming two seasons and hopefully sharing many victories together.”
Fiat Yamaha Team Director Davide Brivio added “It’s nice to be able to finally unveil our new livery and our new sponsorship with Fiat. It’s a new start for us – a new bike, a new sponsor and a new challenge as we try to win back the title! It’s been a long pre-season for us but we’re finally ready for the first race this week; let’s hope we can mark our first outing in Fiat Yamaha Team colours in victorious style!”
The Fiat Yamaha Team will contest the opening round of the 18-race 2007 MotoGP championship this Saturday, 10th March in Qatar.
Dovizioso: 2011 MotoGP Wrap & Wallpaper
Andrea Dovizioso graduated to MotoGP's premier class in 2008, spending every year since on a Honda.
He finished in the top six every season, but the 2011 MotoGP Championship was his best year, the 25-year-old Repsol Honda pilot taking third overall in points behind Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo and title-winner Casey Stoner, also on a Repsol Honda.
During 2011, the Italian took seven podiums, including four runner-up positions (Le Mans, Silverstone, Mugello, Brno).
Throughout the 2011 MotoGP Championship, photographers caught many amazing photos of Dovizioso, some of the best pics shown above. The pics also make great wallpaper for fans of the number-4 rider.

During his freshman year in MotoGP aboard the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha, Ben Spies displayed his raw talent. The Texan's best finish that year (2010) came at Indy when he took second.
Although he didn't win any races, Spies would end the year with a significant award - the 2010 MotoGP Rookie of the Year.
Knowing Spies could perform, he was quickly signed to the Yamaha Factory Racing team with 2010 MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo. Spies filled in the empty seat left by previous Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi, who moved to Ducati for 2011.
And by Round 7 at Assen, Spies comfort on the factory Yamaha M1 was progressing. The 2009 World Superbike Champion won at Assen, taking his first-ever MotoGP victory during his sophomore year.
Including the win, Spies would have four podiums in 2011 - Catalunya (third), Assen (first), Indianapolis (third) and Valencia (second). Spies was in strong form at Valencia, the 2011 MotoGP finale, but lost out to the champ Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda) by 0.015 of a second, the tightest finish of the year.
Spies would finish 2011 fifth overall with 176 points. And with his performances arrived some great pics, the five above highlighting the year; these photos also make for some great wallpaper of the number 11 rider.
